Stephen B. Tilton was born and raised in Beaufort County. He started in the building business as a young lad at the age of 10 with his father, a custom home builder on Hilton Head Island.

His reputation for quality home building, strong leadership and his passion for his community are well respected by clients, friends and family.

Steve established Tilton Group Signature Homes in 1994. Over the past 15 years, the Tilton Group has built more than 220 custom homes in many fine communities in the lowcountry among them Oldfield, Spring Island, Palmetto Bluff and Callawassie Island. His new home construction is respected for high quality standards including EarthCraft House and Energy Star certifications, attention to details, meeting the budget and delivering on time. Steve has found that by introducing his clients to the lowcountry way of life, many long lasting friendships have evolved during the planning and construction of their home. Some of these friendships have even resulted into a working relationship with clients choosing to join the Tilton Group Signature Homes.

Steve has a passion for his community. He is the current Chairman of The Greater Bluffton Community Fund of the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry. He also serves as 2009 Vice Chairman for the Coastal Carolina Hospital, Chairman for a local board of directors for BB&T Bank and Vice President of Membership for the Hilton Head Area Homebuilders Association. Steve is a former president of the Rotary Club of Bluffton in 2007/2008, a Paul Harris Fellow and long standing Rotarian in the local club. He spearheaded the development of the Bluffton Community Center Foundation which successfully raised grant funding and matching funding to build a community center for the Town of Bluffton. He also travels and serves in Builders 20, a national group committed to sharing ideas and momentum for excellence in the building profession.
