We have always wanted to build our own home and have a view of water. We had a home in Belfair, loved Belfair and wanted to stay in the plantation. We toured a lowcountry style home on Callawassie Island that captured a water view and we really liked the style and the quality both inside and out. With a bit of a search at Belfair, we found a hidden gem, property for sale on Hidden Lake. Because we liked the Callawassie home so much, we wanted that builder to build our home. Steve Tilton of the Tilton Group came to our lot and brought Tom Hiatt, an architect, and together we envisioned what we might build. Having never built a house and being an absentee owner whose main home is in Cincinnati, Ohio, might make one a bit nervous. But the process went very smoothly. Steve not only took us to several vendors where he helped us pick out appliances, plumbing fixtures, etc. and kept us to a budget, he also took us to several of his other homes so we could get a better idea of the reclaimed pine floors, the trim work, colors, etc. This was extremely helpful and all his vendors were gracious, creative and good listeners. Because they knew his style of home, we were able to keep with the lowcountry look throughout. We used energy efficient appliances and renaiis that have cut our energy bills.

We could not have been happier with the attention to detail and the courtesy shown to us. Communication was easy and everyone was accessible with an email or phone call. We received monthly pictures via internet too. We encourage more people to use the Tilton Group because of the lowcountry style and the superior quality. We have gotten many, many compliments on our home.

Today, as we walk into our house and see the incredible views Steve’s team created, we pinch ourselves with pride and sheer satisfaction. More importantly, we can count Steve as a true friend and we know he shares the same sense of pride as well.
